
61st Independence Anniversary & Women’s Committee Launch Celebrations

The outcome of knitting and crochet workshop was a great success for the elderly in our community. It helps bring together elderly who were isolated due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Many were able to learn new skill, meet their follow elder who they have not seen for a while.
The knitting workshop was well received by elders in the community. Participants appreciated the opportunity to learn, hang out together, chat, etc
The event was well attended by Community Members, and everyone participated well in the event. At the end of the knitting workshop, certificates of attendance were presented to all the participants and Gift cards were given to assist with transportation and groceries. 6 elderly, 4 kids and 3 volunteers total of 13 people benefited directly and indirectly.
There were several positive feedbacks from the participants like:
- We would like such knitting workshop to be ongoing every month
- This workshop was really good, as it removes us from isolation.
- Good opportunity for us elderly to hang out together with our peers
- This workshop helps to address loneliness and encourage mental wellbeing
- It was a nice way to reconnect with the community.
